Mercato x GiftShop
24 September 2023
Mercato is Fred Semerdjian's new baby. After nurturing the locals of the Notre-Dame-Du-Mont neighborhood in Marseille with his natural, sulfite-free wine cellar (winesucker), Fred moved just a few doors down to break a sweat. And speaking of sweat (or jersey), GiftShop has developed two magnificent heavyweight t-shirts available in black or white, with both logos and the address in 3M™ Scotchlite™ retroreflective fabric to represent the new destination day and night.
Regarding Mercato, it's important to note the arrival of a new player: Justine Pruvot. An independent chef, she has set up her knives at Mercato and serves dishes that are 100% plant-based. Truly farm-to-table.
Cooking 'for real' is what Chef Justine Pruvot has been doing for just under 5 years now. Influenced by her travels, she blends traditional French regional cuisine with fermentation techniques and condiments inspired by Asia. Above all, Justine Pruvot loves encounters; they are what shape her professional journey. Market gardeners, artisans, and farmers are for her a source of inspiration
As for Fred, after a stint with Yves Camdeborde in Paris, he returns to support OM (Olympique de Marseille) at the North bend. He opens Winesucker and becomes the essential distributor for Marseille restaurateurs. Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, he launches his wine cellar still under the Winesucker brand and excites natural wine enthusiasts.
